Self-practice

My yoga self-practice is a space for me and my knowing, it means a great deal to me. to gain a greater insight into my self-practice take a look at my videos @katieyogini on Instagram. I think of myself as on outwardly person, I have two kids, I work in healthcare, and I’m also a chatterbox, these facts mean that the interpersonal interactions I have with family, the public, colleagues and friends places me for the majority of my daily life in spaces other than my own.

Self-practice allows me to progress and develop my yoga movements in the comfort of my own home. I have always found it difficult to attend in-person yoga classes, asana (yoga poses) and the flow of movement have always been something that feels intrinsically personal to me, which i know is a contradiction given I am actually posting the videos, but weirdly that hasn’t changed how I feel in the moment, which is kind of surprising to me.

What you will learn

By completing a 4-week course on self-practice I’m hoping to show you how to nurture your own self-practice, once you have a routine in place you can build slowly on the transitions and proficiency of the poses in your own time and at your own pace. During the 4 week course, you will learn;

– An adaptable warm-up sequence that you can complete in 5 or 15 minutes depending on your day

– You will gain an in-depth understanding of sun salutations that you can add to your self-practice to aid with energy and flow

– You will develop yoga poses with correct alignment that you can then nurture at home and accomplish in more depth over time

– You will learn 3-4 breathing techniques that can be used during a self-practice or at any time when you need to switch off your fight or flight or just take a minute

– I can guide you through types of meditation techniques that you can explore more accurately in your own time

Once completed I encourage to take a few months to practice on your own, nothing guides self-practice more than your own consciousness BUT you are always welcome to come back if you need a refresh or a top-up, or maybe find it difficult to protect that time at home.

For the love of yoga

I hope to start sharing my own yoga influences in this space as a blog but for now, its one step at a time, watch this space.
