I signed up for Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training in 2023 and I completed my 200hour YTT with The Elbowrooms this spring 2024. It was an amazing journey! I wasn’t expecting it to have such a profound influence on my own yoga practice and my overall outlook on life but that’s what happened.
Vinyasa is the type of Yoga that I studied for the teacher training course; however, I do practice Yin Yoga regularly, particularly before bed, it’s a great aid to a good night’s sleep. I also have over 15 years of experience with transcendental meditation, this type of meditation has played a pivotal role in maintaining my emotional and mental health & well-being.
Vinyasa yoga is an intentional practice and includes Asana (sequenced movement) Pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation in different forms. Vinyasa is a type of Yoga Asana (yoga movement) that has many positive influences physically, emotionally and spiritually. I aim to share what I’ve learned with you.
Vinyasa can mean a number of things, a sequence, a style of movement, and a way of life.
Vinyasa comes from Sanskrit and means ‘to place (Nyasa) in a specific way (vi)’
The sequences I will take us through on our journey to developing a self-practice are intended to create meaning and attention in the movement, with the aim of developing a deeper understanding of our mind-body connection.
